Joe Lycett has revealed he didn’t actually spend £10,000 after David Beckham failed to respond to his World Cup ultimatum.
On Sunday, Lycett appeared to have made good on his pledge to cancel the sum (£1,000 for every £1m in Beckham’s alleged contract) if the footballer does not terminate his contract in protest of the stance of Beckham. Qatar on LGBT+ issues.
Appearing on a live stream at BendersLikeBeckham.com, Lycett – wearing a tulle jacket in the colors of the Pride Progress flag – took cash and threw it in the shredder.
Then he bowed to the camera and walked away.
But today, Lycett shared an update, confirming that although the money he threw in was real, what was obtained was fake.
He said he would never destroy the money and donated it to charity before sending his first tweet to Beckham.
Instead, he tore the cover of Beckham’s 2002 gay magazine Attitude.
