Joel Dommett has been forced to withdraw from his Comic Relief hosting duties.
The presenter – who hosts The Masked Singer and also stars on I’m A Celebrity – has been dropped with Covid, meaning he won’t be able to host Friday’s charity show.
He has confirmed who will replace him in the presenting lineup for the spectacular Red Nose Day, which includes Lenny Henry, Alesha Dixon, David Tennant, Zoe Ball, AJ Odudu and Paddy McGuiness among others.
“Very frustrating to report that I have a vid. Unfortunately, this means I have to withdraw from the hosting service @comicrelief“, he wrote in an Instagram post while snapping a photo of himself in the organizing lineup.
Joel also announced that a fellow I’m A Celebrity star will be replacing him on this Friday’s live show – Vernon Kay.
He added: “My incredible alternative is to look better, to be more talented @vernonkay who is ace. I’ll be following home donations like everyone else! ”
Vernon also confirmed the timing of the show on his own Instagram account.
“Covid has captured Captain Fantastic @joeldommett so I’ll try to fill up his size 11.5 shoes on Fridays @comicrelief Prizeathon with @ajodudu Get Vits in Joel kicking ass and joining in the fun from the sofa? (You can win a CAR!)”, he wrote.
Comic Relief’s official Instagram account was one of the first to wish Joel a speedy recovery.
They wrote: “We will miss you Joel, get better soon. And we are so happy to see you @vernonkay“while one of his co-presenters, Zoe Ball added:” feel better damn. boo not you! Hooray Kay ( @vernonkay ). ”
“I love you. Hope you feel better soon,” Vicky Pattison wrote under Joel’s post.
Comics legends Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders will reunite for Comic Relief next month, where they will participate in sketches with The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades.
“I don’t think we ever said no to Comic Relief because it was so important, and because it was from our community and we were there from the beginning,” Dawn explains.
“I know that the money has been spent correctly and I know that there are ongoing projects that need us to work on and I would never want to let anyone down, so I thought they The more we can do to promote and support, the better!”
