Johnny Depp describes the moment a finger was severed

A very graphic photo of Johnny Depp’s severed finger was shown in court as the actor described an infamous argument he had with ex-wife Amber Heard.

The court heard the couple had a falling out during a trip to Australia in 2015 when the 58-year-old actor was filming the fifth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Amber, 35, had previously claimed Depp abused her during that trip and described the time Down Under as a “three day hostage situation”.

The trip was shortly after their wedding and Johnny said that Amber had angry discussions about pre-marital arrangements and post-marital arrangements.

Johnny told the court he locked himself in “at least nine bedrooms, bathrooms” in the rented house, which he described as a “maze” as Amber tried to continue an argument.

He said that Amber “pounded on the doors and yelled obscenities”.

The actor said the banging eventually stopped and she heard Amber walk away and that the situation “got very emotional.”

Depp said he went downstairs to a bar on the property and told the court, “I was a mess, I was a wreck.”

He said he took a bottle of vodka and poured two or three “stiff” shots and said that when Amber found him at the bar, she “of course started screaming… ‘the monster’ and all that”.

He told the court that Amber took the bottle and “threw it” at him, smashing it behind his head.

After taking another, larger bottle of vodka and pouring another shot, Depp told the court that Amber “hurled insults” before taking the second bottle and throwing it at him.

He told the court that the bottle shattered and part of the bottle hit his finger.

He said that initially he “didn’t feel any pain at all,” but his finger became hot and when he looked down, the tip of his finger had been severed.

Depp said, “I was looking right at my bone… it was sticking out… blood was oozing out.”

He told the court that at that moment it was “probably as close as I’ve ever been” to having a nervous breakdown.

When asked which finger was severed, Depp held up his right hand and told the court, “It’s the weird looking one.”

Depp said that in the moments after his finger was severed, “it looked like Mount Vesuvius.”
