epp is suing ex-wife Heard for defamation and damage to his Hollywood career as a result of her 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post in which she alluded to being molested by the Pirates of the Caribbean actor without naming him directly .

Heard sued her ex-husband for twice the amount, accused him of allegedly organizing a “smear campaign” against her, and described his own lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.”

The Oscar-nominated actor will return for cross-examination by Heard’s attorneys on Wednesday (April 20), according to a new Deadline report Monday (April 18).

The publication reported that sound engineer Keenan Wyatt will also take the stand on Tuesday, performing on behalf of longtime friend Depp.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and actors James Franco and Paul Bettany are also expected to testify at the Virginia courthouse in the high-profile trial, which has been marked by shocking allegations of assault and abuse by both Depp and Heard.

The couple, who first met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2009, married in 2015. Heard filed for divorce from Depp the following year when she filed for a domestic violence restraining order and accused Depp of abusing her.

The process began with jury selection on April 11, when seven jurors and four alternates were selected. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the first witnesses took the stand, either in person or via video testimony.

Witnesses included Depp and Heard’s former marriage counselor, Depp’s sister, some of his friends, and Heard’s former assistant.

Last week, the couple’s marriage therapist, Dr. Laurel Anderson said the couple “engaged in mutual abuse” over the course of their relationship.
