Johnny Depp settles former site manager’s US lawsuit

Johnny Depp has settled a US lawsuit brought against him by a former site manager.

The actor was accused of assaulting Greg “Rocky” Brooks during production for the 2018 film City of Lies.

According to PA news agency documents, the case is now set to be dropped next year after an agreement was reached two weeks before the trial began.

Further details of the settlement were not disclosed.

“The Settlement Agreement is conditional on the dismissal of this matter from the satisfactory performance of certain conditions not to be satisfied within 45 days of the date of the Settlement,” the settlement statement said.

“An application for dismissal will be made no later than May 1, 2023.”

The original lawsuit alleged that Depp attacked Brooks after the site manager told him production was wrapped up for the night.

It comes after the actor’s victory in the high-profile defamation case brought against his ex-wife Amber Heard last month.

Depp’s attorneys said there was “no legitimate basis” for the Aquaman star to appeal a new trial in the multi-million dollar case.

The actor’s reps said the ruling in her favor was “well supported by the overwhelming evidence (and) in accordance with the law” and that the appeal “bordered on recklessness.”
