Klopp reflects on Liverpool’s FA Cup final win
Jordan Henderson went down in the Liverpool record books as the first captain to win six different trophies.
The FA Cup was the only silverware alluded to the midfielder after winning the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
But after the Reds’ exploits at Wembley as they beat Chelsea on penalties, Henderson capped the win and became the first man to win six different trophies as a skipper.
Kostas Tsimikas scored the winning penalty after it ended 0-0 after 90 minutes and extra time as Chelsea suffered the same fate as in the Carabao Cup final.
The quadruple is still not out of the question as there is a Champions League final at the end of the month while they are three points behind Manchester City in the Premier League.
Henderson says Liverpool “let the green down” in paying tribute to shootout heroes Tsimikas and Alisson. He said: “Good two teams going for it. We kept going. In overtime we were tired both times and luckily we got to the green.
“Tsimikas was good at penalties. We practiced them and I was full of confidence when he came up.”
Adding to Alisson’s performance: “Not enough good words. Incredible. Everything. His all round personality in the dressing room.”
Jurgen Klopp praised his “mental monsters” for dealing with several setbacks in the game as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah left injured.
The German was also sorry that Thomas Tuchel’s side twice lost a final on penalties this season.

He said: “Excellent, it was an incredibly intense game against Chelsea – they deserved it [the win] just like in the Carabao Cup – that’s how small the distances are.
“I couldn’t be prouder of my boys, the change they made, how hard they fought, early changes. All those things, missing good chances, getting past good moments from Chelsea and then having really good moments yourself.
“Then on penalties it was nerve wracking, my nails are gone but I really feel for Chelsea – second time, 120 minutes and you don’t get anything, it’s too hard. But I’m pretty happy for us.”
“We are mental monsters but there were also mental monsters in blue – it was a penalty. Chelsea played brilliantly but in the end there has to be a winner and that was us today.”
