Masvidal and Diaz fought for their first ‘BMF’ title at UFC 244 in 2019, with Masvidal being declared the winner after doctors stopped the fight due to a nasty cut in Diaz’s face.
A rematch between the pair has been expected since then, but Diaz has only fought once since losing and is nearing the end of his UFC contract.
Masvidal is gearing up to fight his longtime friend, nasty rival Colby Covington at UFC 272 next month, but is aiming for a second fight with Diaz in the future.
“That mother didn’t want that, man. I almost killed him, I hit him an inch of his skinny life,” Masvidal said in a Fan Q&A.

“You saw his last fight with Leon, I was like, man, they made that mistake and put this guy in there with me again, you know? He wasn’t trying to fight. .”
In his first bout that lasted more than 18 months, Diaz was missed by top weight competitor Leon Edwards at UFC 263 despite coming back late in the final round.
And Masvidal continued: “That little f****** broom kept saying, you’re going to have to go at some point, you know. [When] I put Colby’s a** out, if I had to wait for Usman, maybe you’d get a** of this bitch, man…
“Come on, man, I’m going to break your face, man. That’s not an appeal.
“Once I’ve got the job done, I’ll take the title, and if I don’t have time to claim the title, I’ll smash your face for everything that’s been said about you ‘done.”
Masvidal has yet to defend his iconic ‘BMF’ title despite winning the belt three years ago, so a rematch with Diaz could be the perfect opportunity to rewind your belt.

Without a win since defeating Diaz, ‘Gamebred’ has lost its last two matches to No. 1 Kamaru Usman.
But Diaz doesn’t seem interested in avenging his loss to Masvidal and instead wants to fight his teammate Dustin Poirier.
“I am currently in the final fight of my contract. I want to fight Dustin Poirier,” he told Adam’s Apple.
“Next month when s*** changes, and people win and start doing something entertaining, or something is going on, it’s going to be different.”
Since losing the lightweight title last December, Poirier has packed on several sizes ahead of his welterweight clash with Diaz and is confident the fight can go. in the summer.
