Joss Stone revealed that she is “done” with performing to make sure her children are kept up.

The 35-year-old singer is currently pregnant with her second child with boyfriend Cody DaLuz after giving birth to 18-month-old daughter Violet.

In an interview on the Sweat, Snot and Tears podcast, Joss was candid about moving to Nashville, having a miscarriage, and her values as a mother.

She admits she’s uncomfortable with the thought that her child needs to feel “valid” as she used to with “children of stars” as she grows up, but that doesn’t mean she’s leaving the industry. good music career.

“I don’t want to leave Violet, I just don’t want to do it,” she told hosts Annie O’Leary and Wendy Golledge.

Joss announced in April that she was pregnant with her second child just six months after suffering a severe miscarriage.

“It’s totally possible to tour with babies when they’re young. Cody works on his computer on the bus. He leads me to the stage with Violet. He turns around, gave her a bath and when I finished the stage, it was time to put her to bed, so it was perfect.

“For me, I’ve completely let go of it. I would only do touring while she was in school if I couldn’t keep the lights on in any other way because I’m fine. I’m done traveling. “

She added: “I’ve wanted to be a mother for a long time. This is what I want to do.

“My dream is to write for other singers. I can do it at home. So I can take Violet to school, come home, write some songs and go pick her up. That’s what it is. I like it so much.

“If I could set up my life like that, it would be perfect.”

While talking about not having a place to call “home,” she admitted that she and Cody were still looking for a stable place to live when the coronavirus pandemic hit.

That prompted the Devon-born musician to move to Nashville, where Violet was born and their second baby is due in October.

She said: “I always thought I was going to give birth in Devon, in Exeter. It was, like, always in my head but here I am and I really like the doctor even though he sometimes says things I don’t always agree with.

“I really like him because he’s really outspoken and he’s a no-nonsense guy, which makes me feel really safe so I think when you have that kind of relationship with a doctor or a female your midwife, you don’t really want to change it because you trust them.”

Joss also shared about the trauma of last October’s miscarriage and explained the reasoning behind announcing the tragic news publicly.

“It was the most horrible thing I think ever happened in my life,” she said.

“I haven’t shared it in a long time but when I got pregnant again… I don’t know, I felt like I had a baby before and no one knew him.

“It’s like saying ‘Okay, we have a baby again and it’s good’ but is it like what happened to the baby before?

“I thought he was him, I don’t know because he was only nine weeks old, but he was my baby and now, somehow, he’s still a part of my world.

“So it feels like if I mention this and don’t mention him, it’s like not talking about one of your kids and that makes me feel bad.”
