Kanye, Olivia Rodrigo and Drake early winners at the Billboard Music Awards

Olivia Rodrigo, Kanye West and Drake were already big winners before the Billboard Music Awards officially began.

Odrigo and West, the latter known as Ye, both took home the most awards with six during a non-televised ceremony on Sunday. Rodrigo, who won Best New Artist, is a finalist in the Best Female Artist category, to be announced later in the show’s live broadcast.

Brit Ed Sheeran, who is currently touring Northern Ireland, will also be performing at the awards remotely. Other chart-toppers performing at the event include Travis Scott, Becky G, Miranda Lambert, Meghan Thee Stallion, Morgan Wallen and Grammy Awards favorites Silk Sonic.

Sean “Diddy” Combs will host the show, which will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas and will air live from 8pm Eastern (1am London) on NBC and its Peacock streaming service.

Drake was named Top Artist, Male Artist, Rap Artist, Male Rap Artist, and Rap Album for Certified Lover Boy. With 34 wins, the rapper extended his record as the most decorated winner in the history of the awards.

Ye made his mark in the faith-based categories — again: the rapper won Best Christian Artist for the first time, but he held his own for Best Gospel Artist and Gospel Song for a third straight year. He also received a top gospel album for the second time.

The Kid LAROI became a first-time winner, taking home five wins for his song Stay, along with Justin Bieber – whose winning tally rose to 26 at the Billboard Music Awards.

Doja Cat was named Best R&B Artist and Female R&B Artist for the second year in a row. She will compete for Best R&B Album and Artist.

Taylor Swift – who has the second most award show wins at 29 – has won four awards. Bad Bunny earned two wins while R&B duo Silk Sonic, consisting of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, won their first-ever award for Best R&B Song with Leave the Door Open.

Nominees are determined by Billboard chart rankings, and winners are selected based on a variety of criteria, including album and digital song sales, airplay and streaming success, and touring.
