The Grammys are just hours away and Kanye West is set to be a cast member at the awards ceremony on Sunday April 3rd.

West is up to five nominations at the 2022 Grammy Awards, but when the first list of artists performing at the awards was announced, his name wasn’t there.

A rep for the artist later confirmed that West was withdrawn from his scheduled performance at the Grammys due to his “worrying online behavior” over the past few weeks.

West’s team revealed they received a call from organizers telling them that the rapper had been “sadly” dropped from the cast.

Here’s why Kanye West was banned from performing at the Grammys.

The cancellation of Kanye’s Grammy Awards performance comes amid erratic behavior on social media in recent months, including the harassment of ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s new beau, Pete Davidson.

However, sources close to West have claimed the decision to drop the rapper from the cast of performers was related to his recent feud with 2022 Grammys host Trevor Noah.

Comedian and TV host Noah recently commented on Kanye’s split from Kim, saying, “Over time, Kanye has become increasingly aggressive about how he’s trying to get Kim back.”

Speaking on the Daily Show, Noah added: “I’ll be honest with you – what I see from the situation is a woman who wants to live her life without being bothered by an ex-boyfriend or an ex-husband or an ex-something.”

He added, “What she is going through is terrifying to watch and highlights what so many women are going through when they decide to leave.”

Following Noah’s comments, Kanye took to his Instagram and allegedly used an anti-Black slur to refer to Noah in a post that has since been deleted.

After that, the rapper’s Instagram account was suspended for 24 hours where he was not allowed to post, comment and message.

Meta explained that his recent posts violated the platform’s policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying.

Noah replied to Kanye in the comments section – before the post was deleted – saying that “there are few artists that have had a bigger impact on me than you, Ye,” adding, “If you’re just kidding about it and I’m me.” an idiot for caring, then so be it. But I’d rather be the idiot who spoke up.

Is Kanye Still Nominated For Grammy Awards?

Despite being dropped from the cast, Kanye is still nominated for five awards this year.

He’s nominated for two albums of the year, one for his own album Donda and another for his work on Lil Nas X’s Montero. Donda was also nominated for Best Rap Album.

Two of Kanye’s songs are also recognized, with Jail being nominated for Best Rap Song and Hurricane being nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

According to the official Grammy website, Kanye has been nominated for a Grammy a total of 75 times and has won 22 times.
