Kaoru Mitoma expected to delight Brighton fans

Graham Potter is hoping to see more wing magician Kaoru Mitoma following his exciting cameo at the Amex.

The Japan international showed his ability to calm opponents down when he came on as a substitute in the 5-1 win over Espanyol.

Old-fashioned wing play was not a regular feature of Albion life in Potter’s tactical plan.

But Mitoma seems to offer a potential new dimension.

The Albion boss said: “I think our fans will like him.

“He has the ability to walk past people one-on-one and we’ve seen it before.

“He picks up players and walks around them, which isn’t that common.

“That’s his quality and what he can do and hopefully we’ll see him a little bit this season.”

Japanese fans have been spotted in the crowd during friendly matches against Reading and Espanyol.

And two Japanese reporters were at the Amex on Saturday, waiting to speak to Mitoma well after the final whistle. Kaoru Mitoma expected to delight Brighton fans
