Kate Garraway is still “hoping for a happy ending” for her and her husband with Covid disease, Derek Draper, while he is recovering.
The Good Morning Britain presenter’s new documentary Caring For Derek aired on Tuesday night and captures the moment Derek returns home after more than a year in hospital – in a coma for 10 weeks.
Derek, 54 years old, signed a contract Coronavirus in March 2020, and he was put into a coma by doctors.
He has had to battle with serious long-term effects and a host of health problems since his diagnosis, including multiple organ failure and blood clots on his lungs, and has continued to recover for nearly two years. Later.

Kate broke down in tears as she admitted she still hoped for “a happy ending” for her and Derek, as she described the “terrible loneliness” she had to go through while taking care of him.
The GMB presenter explained that Derek appeared to have expressed his feelings a year earlier, but appeared to have “stepped back” as time went on.
Speaking in the documentary, she explained: “It seems that in terms of communication, he went back to this point last year.
“I mean he could have expressed fear, or anxiety, or all sorts of things this time last year, whereas now it’s yes or no, ‘don’t know.
“People have been really nice and said that I’m an inspiration, but I’m really struggling. I think it’s important for people to know that because I’m sure they’re struggling too. his life, in whatever way everything happened at them.”
Kate continued: “I think one of the worst things is the terrible loneliness you get when he’s here, but he’s not there.
“It’s really indescribable, It’s hard because I can see him but he’s absent and you just feel so at ease.”
She added: “I still hope we get a happy ending, but it just feels unsustainable in the end.”
In the documentary, a special moment that makes viewers “sobbing” is Kate and Derek’s daughter Darcey wrote her father an emotional happy birthday message.
Derek was able to read the message his daughter had written him in a card, before he burst into tears.
Darcey’s card reads: “To the greatest dad in the world. Happy birthday, love you so much, I’m so proud of you.”
When he reached the end of the message, he burst into tears leading to his daughter comforting him before Billy also hugged his emotional father.
Viewers shed tears at the moment and praised the love between the father and his children, as well as his wife Kate.
