Love Your Garden: Kate Garraway shows Derek her work

Kate Garraway posted a snap of her husband Derek Draper and their son Billy together in the garden on Tuesday.

The image came after the presenter, 54, confessed to starting planting trees as a hobby as the family continued to accept Derek’s plight in the wake of his Covid nightmare.

The Good Morning Britain star shared the photo on her Instagram account of the family enjoying time in the garden. Derek can be seen in a gray hoody in a wheelchair, while his son Billy is handing him something while wearing an oversized Adidas tank top and a rear cap.

Kate nestles next to her 54-year-old husband in the cuddly scene.

She captioned the post with information about her “new therapy”. She wrote: “Finally I can share with you a great personal challenge on @itv at 8pm tonight – can you #GrowYourselfWell?!

“It started out as a kind of therapy – gardening and nature helped distract me when life was approaching and then, thanks to the @loveyourgarden team, I took it a step further and turned our garden into a Beautiful plant for physical healing.

“They even helped me carry Derek outside so he too could see the fruits of our labor – a very emotional moment. I really hope you feel inspired and comforted. by show – let me know!!! #gardeninglife #hope #heal”

Many of her 1.1 million followers took to the comments section to share their love for Kate and her family.

Among the comments was Susanna Reid, who wrote: “This is amazing. You all are.”

Richard Arnold also commented: “Love”, while Lizzie Cundy said: “This is unbelievable”.

The show’s episode that aired on Tuesday followed Kate as she visited Kew’s gardens, where she was taught how plants have medicinal benefits.

She was also inspired to create a range of plants in her own garden filled with beneficial antioxidants.

Kate has continued to update the public on Derek’s condition after he caught Covid early in the pandemic and was hospitalized for 374 days.

He still needs round-the-clock care and it is feared he may never walk again due to the effects of the virus.

The presenter also recently revealed about the money worries the family may be facing while she has also previously acted in two documentaries about herself and Derek, including the most recent Caring for Derek movie.
