Now, KATE is being urged by Camilla to be vigilant on Order of the Garter – just days after Prince Harry snubbed Meghan Markle

The royal calendar often consists of events that happen almost every year without exception.

And one of those takes place on Monday – Garter Day at Windsor Castle, which sees a number of royals take part in a procession wearing royal velvet robes and plumed hats.

For the past two years it has fallen victim to Covid restrictions, meaning the last time the event was held was in 2019.

And that was a very special year that year, as the King and Queen of the Netherlands and Spain attended alongside the British Royal Family.

The ceremony was attended by Sophie Wessex, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Queen Letizia of Spain, along with the Duchesses of Cornwall and Cambridge.

And it seems Kate almost got so lost in conversation with Queen Maxima that they almost missed an important part of the procession.

Luckily, Camilla was on hand to pat Maxima on the arm and remind the ladies to look ahead as the parade rolled by – and Sophie was also quickly spotted taking her place in the line-up alongside Letizia.

The Order of the Garter was founded in 1348 by Edward III. Established to recognize merit in public service.

Members of the order include the Queen, several senior royals and 24 other knights or dames personally chosen by the monarch to recognize their work.

Some foreign monarchs also belong to the order, but are known as “foreign” knights. These include King Felipe of Spain and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

During Monday’s service, Camilla will be made Royal Lady of the Garter, while former Prime Minister Tony Blair will be made Knight of the Garter and Baroness Amos will be Lady of the Garter.

Other royals who are in the order include Prince Charles, Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

A statement from Buckingham Palace on Monday’s event read: “On Monday 13 June 2022, at St.

“Members of the royal family will go in procession to the chapel and after the service depart in carriages for their return journey to the castle.

“During the service, the Duchess of Cornwall is installed as Royal Lady of the Garter. A companion, the Baroness Amos, and a knight companion, Sir Anthony Blair, are also deployed.”
