Katherine Ryan said she was happy to have “dangerous” conversations about an alleged perpetrator of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.
The Canadian comedian had previously confronted an unnamed individual about the alleged incidents and said many believed his actions were a “public secret”.
She discussed the allegations with documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux in the most recent episode of the new BBC Two series, Louis Theroux Interviews.
Ryan recently appeared in the press when she revealed that she confronted the man, a fellow comedian, about “predatory” behavior.
When asked by Theroux what she meant by the term ‘predator’, she replied: ‘I think I mean the perpetrator of sexual assault, but it would be dangerous if we had a conversation. this story.
“I’m happy to have it, but it’s a litigation minefield because a lot of people have tried to bring this person down for the crimes they are accused of and this person has very good lawyers.
“So I would bet my mortgage by saying who this person is or engaging in any kind of conversation like that?
“We’ve seen what happens to people who talk about alleged predators.”

Ryan added that “it’s really not my story to tell… no one committed any sexual assault against me”.
“But this person, I strongly believe, so do a lot of people… is an open secret, the perpetrator of sexual assault,” she told Theroux.
“I, in front of countless people, in the format of the show have told this person over and over again that they are predators.”

Portions of the unspecified show’s episode, in which Ryan confronted that individual, were later removed from the show.
“It’s okay, I’m still getting paid and I’m still doing my job, but I’ve done it in a way that feels fair to me,” she said.
“This is what we talk about… female comics and probably actresses and women in my industry always talk about it because that’s the safest way for us to talk about it.
She added: “I didn’t tell any of the owners or blow the whistle or do anything at all, I dealt with it, for lack of a better term, as a man, and straight to the point. his face.”
When asked about the criticism she has received for not naming personally, she continued: “Every time these things are finally proven…everyone knows.”
She added: “I don’t mean to cause a stir about it, I just say things as they are.”
During the series, Theroux also conducted intimate interviews with other big names in the entertainment industry, including Stormzy, Dame Judi Dench, and Bear Grylls.
