Katy Perry opens up about a meme-worthy quest for a seat at King Charles’ coronation

Katy Perry attended the coronation of King Charles III. visibly confused on Saturday.

The “California Gurls” singer was one of several celebrities attending the momentous occasion at London’s Westminster Abbey, but appeared to be the only one unable to find her seat. The adorable moment, captured on live television, has since gone hilariously viral.

“Katy Perry not finding her place is so me.” tweeted one personwhile another wrote: “Katy Perry, who is looking for her seat at the coronation, is the perfect US representative” — and another joked that her struggle “was the equivalent of us trying to find our parents at the grocery store.”

In contrast to well-known artists who allegedly Turning down the opportunity, Perry and Lionel Richie graciously accepted the royal family’s offer to sing at Sunday’s coronation concert. Meanwhile, the speed at which she went viral on Saturday hasn’t escaped the pop star’s notice.

She tweeted shortly after“Don’t worry guys, I’ve found my place.”

Perry arrived dressed all in lilac, wearing a short-sleeved jacket and gloves to match her dress. While she sported a rather large hat to boot, the accessory didn’t cause problems or become viral memes — unlike those of some of Saturday’s other contestants.

The American Idol judge finally found her seat and witnessed Britain’s first coronation since Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. However, as it was also the second televised coronation, all eyes were on those in attendance – and on Perry’s momentary disorientation.

Luckily for Perry – who is set to join British boy band Take That, Italian opera legend Andrea Bocelli and Welsh singer Bryn Terfel on Sunday – she will likely be standing during her performance.
