Kerry Katona admitted she felt “terrible” when she received backlash over an online pregnancy prank.

The former Atomic Kitten singer took part in the April Fool’s prank by posting a picture of a fake baby scan on her social media.

People were furious, saying it was “weird and insensitive” to fake a pregnancy.

She apologized for the post and even wrote a column for it new magazine explains her side of the story.

Kerry wanted to “clean things up” after being criticized for “upsetting people who can’t have children or people who have had miscarriages before”.

“I was called such disgusting things and it broke me,” she wrote. “People assume I haven’t had any fertility issues, but I have. I know the heartache I got an angel baby.

“The joke was not intentionally cruel. He wasn’t targeting miscarriages or families struggling to conceive. I was just pranking Ryan.”

She went on to say that she was filming for Steph’s Packed Lunch when she started receiving horrific messages from trolls.

“I felt horrible after being trolled,” Kerry added, before saying she doesn’t know why she didn’t start crying during filming.

On April 1, she took to her Instagram to post a picture of an ultrasound.

Before deleting her post, she edited the caption and said, “I fucking knew you guys wouldn’t fucking believe me.”

Fans immediately slammed her for the post, saying, “Kerry Katona faking pregnancy, weird and insensitive behavior.”

Another added, “Kerry Katona fakes pregnancy for April Fools’ jokes then just hilariously deletes it.”

On the same day, a rep for the singer announced that she should not post the picture on her public account.

Kerry’s rep said: “It was an April Fool’s joke for her fiancé Ryan but she accidentally posted it on her public account and not her private one with very close friends.

“Kerry herself is unable to have children due to medical reasons and has been open about it in the past.

“She sincerely apologizes to anyone offended and would never post anything to intentionally offend anyone.”

Kerry is already mom to Lilly-Sue, 19, Molly, 20, Heidi, 15, and Dylan-Jorge, seven, and son Max, 13.

Kerry also previously apologized in a column for OK! Magazine.
