Kevin Spacey will have to appear in court in the US to face allegations of sexual assault by actor Anthony Rapp.
the actor, 63, has “unequivocally denied” the allegations and said he “did not harbor any interest or sexual desire towards Mr Rapp at the time or since” of the case. what is said to have happened in 1986.
Jury selection will begin Thursday in the United States Southern District Court for the Southern District of New York, with proceedings presided over by Judge Lewis A Kaplan.
Mr. Spacey has lived in exile from Hollywood since Rapp accused him of inappropriate behavior in October 2017.
Mr Rapp claimed he was the victim of “unwanted sexual advancement” at a party in 1986 when he was 14 years old.
Documents seen by the PA news agency claim Mr Spacey surprised Mr Rapp at the party by picking him up and putting him to bed.
The documents say Mr Spacey then pushed his body weight on Mr Rapp before the actor “twisted” without resistance during the brief encounter.
Mr Spacey said none of his interactions with Rapp were “aimed at demeaning or abusing him”.
“I categorically deny that Plaintiff Anthony Rapp alleges that I sexually assaulted him or carried out a ‘sexual assault’ on him,” the Hollywood star said earlier.
The trial comes less than three months after Mr Spacey appeared in a UK court to “toughly” deny further allegations of sexual assault dating back 17 years.
