Kieran Kingston heralds the changes as Cork seek a fourth consecutive league win over Galway

Cork manager Kieran Kingston has made five changes since last weekend’s comprehensive victory over All-Ireland champions Limerick as the Rebels battle for a fourth straight victory when they welcome Galway to the Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday night (7.0).

The manager’s son, Shane, is suspended after his breaching contract in the first half. His place goes to Alan Connolly, while veteran Séamus Harnedy and Sarsfields speedster Jack O’Connor also join the attack, while Mark Keane and Conor Lehane make way.

The other changes are in defence, with Damien Cahalane replacing Niall O’Leary at corner-back while Rob Downey comes on for Ciarán Joyce at full-back as Cork look to maintain their unbeaten start to 2022.

Meanwhile, Limerick boss John Kiely has named a strong hand for Sunday’s Allianz HL Division 1 Group A clash against Clare at Cusack Park as he welcomes 2020 Hurler of the Year Gearóid Hegarty back into his starting XI.

Hegarty missed last weekend’s defeat by Cork through suspension, but he returns to a familiar attacking line alongside two-time Hurler of the Year Cian Lynch and Tom Morrissey as the contract seeks to end a winless start to the league.

Four-time All-Star Seán Finn is absent on Day 26 after being substituted off injured against the Rebels last week and his spot goes to Richie English while Colin Coughlan comes on as a half-back for Kyle Hayes.

Nickie Quaid returns in goal, as does Will O’Donoghue in midfield, while Aaron Gillane is named on the edge of the pitch with promising youngster Adam English alongside him in the corner.

Kiely can also welcome Mike Casey, who was full-back in the 2018 All-Ireland triumph, back to Day 26 for the first time this year after the Na Piarsaigh defender suffered a terrible streak of injuries in recent seasons.
