Ireland goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara and former international Anthony Pilkington are both looking for a new club after being sacked by Fleetwood Town today.
The club responded to a poor season that saw them narrowly avoid relegation with a new manager on the way, while eight players, including four on loan, will depart.
Pilkington (33) scored four goals in 28 games last season but the ex-Norwich City player is on the hunt for a new club.
Former Manchester United player O’Hara, 26, has also been sacked after playing just four times for Town last season. He had high hopes of reviving his career when he joined Fleetwood from Burton Albion in February, but he hasn’t done enough to land a new contract.
O’Hara, who has been on the Old Trafford books for almost a decade, was sacked by United in 2020 and had already made his senior Ireland debut as a substitute for Mark Travers in a win against Bulgaria in 2019 when he started in the United States’ home win against New Zealand.
Most recently, he was in the Irish squad as an unused substitute in last year’s triple header against Serbia, Luxembourg and Qatar.
