Kildare County Council is closing two sections of the M7 for power line work


Kildare County Council has informed the public that two sections of the M7 motorway will be closed briefly on two dates in the coming weeks.

The stretch of road between Junction 12, Curragh Racecourse, and Junction 13, Kildare Village will be closed in both directions on Sunday 21st August.

The closures are being carried out on behalf of traffic management company VIAE Ltd to facilitate work on overhead contact lines across the M7 in the townlands of Curraghfarm and Lughill, Co Kildare.

The works are expected to take around a day each and the duration of the closure will be between six and 12 hours per day.

In addition, the section between Junction 14, Monasterevin and Junction 15, Portarlington will also be closed on Sunday 11th September.

M7 users are advised to use the R445 as the main alternative route during closures.

Detour routes will be clearly signposted in consultation with the Municipality and An Garda Síochána.

Emergency access and limited local access will be maintained. Kildare County Council is closing two sections of the M7 for power line work
