Kim Kardashian Responds to Backlash Over ‘Work’ Comment
Kim Kardashian has now addressed the statement she made about women in business that sparked controversy after an interview with her family earlier this month.
The 41-year-old reality TV star sparked backlash with a comment she made during an interview diversity recently ahead of the launch of the new show The Kardashians on Hulu.
She was interviewed by the outlet alongside Kourtney Kardashian, 42, Khloé Kardashian, 37, and Kris Jenner, 66 – with them asked to share advice for women in business.
Kim encouraged women to “f*** up and work,” although she heard in a clip from the interview that it seems like “nobody wants to work these days.”

The remark quickly drew criticism of Kim, who has been described as “tone deaf,” and some have suggested that privilege helped her find success in the business.
She has since addressed the controversy in an ABC News interview with Robin Roberts, 61 – who asked what she meant and what she now wanted to say about it.
Kim replied to the broadcaster: “Well that statement I made was without questions and conversation. It really became a soundbite with no context.”

She said: “It wasn’t a blanket statement to women or feeling like I don’t respect the work or think they don’t work hard. I know they do. It was taken out of context.”
However, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum apologized if it was “taken that way,” and gave ABC News host Robin more details from the previous interview.
Kim said the question before the one that sparked her controversial answer suggested that despite a 20-year career, she was simply “famous for being famous.”

As a result, Kim said her “whole tone and attitude changed” just before she was asked to offer advice for other women. She then gave advice in the new interview.
She said: “Having a social media presence and being on a reality show doesn’t mean overnight success. You have to work really hard to get there, even if it seems easy.”
Kim – co-founder of shapewear brand Skims – said people can build a “really successful business” through social media, but said it takes “a lot of hard work”.
