Kim Kardashian said she was “so honored” to wear a historic gown once worn by Hollywood superstar Marilyn Monroe to this year’s Met Gala.
The reality star revealed she lost 16 pounds to fit into the “iconic” dress that Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum.
It was worn by Monroe in 1962 during her famous performance of Happy Birthday to US President John F. Kennedy.
One of the biggest and most exclusive nights in the fashion world, the Met Gala attracts an array of high-end and outrageous outfits.
This year’s theme is “Gilded Glamour,” and Kardashian was joined by other members of her famous family, as well as numerous other celebrities, including Lizzo, Billie Eilish, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Sharing pictures of the dress on Instagram, Kardashian revealed that the skin-tight dress was adorned with more than 6,000 crystals, which were hand-sewn by costumer Jean Louis.
“I am so honored to wear the iconic dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1962 as she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy,” she wrote.
“It’s a stunning, skin-tight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals by costume designer Jean Louis.
“Thanks, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for giving me the opportunity to present this stunning piece of fashion history for the first time since the late Marilyn Monroe wore it.

“I am infinitely grateful for this moment.”
The reality star revealed she lost 16 pounds to fit in the dress and “hasn’t had any carbs or sugar for about three weeks.”
“I had this idea of trying it on, and then they came with armed guards and gloves,” she told Vogue on the event’s red carpet.
“I tried it on and it didn’t fit me. I said, ‘Give me three weeks.’ I had to lose 16 kilos today.
“It was such a challenge. It was like a role. I was determined to fit it.
“I haven’t had any carbs or sugar for about three weeks. We are having pizza and donut party at the hotel.”
Kardashian arrived at the Met Gala with her boyfriend Pete Davidson, who joked that she didn’t let him “wear my propeller hat.”
The evening’s co-host Blake Lively gifted the Met Gala with the first costume change of the evening.
Shortly after arriving on the arm of husband and co-host Ryan Reynolds in a bronze and rose Versace gown, the matching bow was unfolded into a full train, transforming her gown into a blue and gold marvel.
The star said her look was inspired by the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Grand Central Station’s blue ceiling.
