Kim Kardashian has revealed that she is “re-evaluating” her relationship with Balenciaga following their controversial new teddy bear campaign involving children.
His ad campaign, which was removed from all platforms following the backlash, features images of children holding teddy bears dressed as slaves and images of the Supreme Court’s opinion on a child abuse cases.
The Skims owner, who has 4 children with rapper Kanye West, has broken her silence about the campaign and her future relationship with Balenciaga.
“As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images,” she said in a statement on social media.
“Children’s safety must come first and any attempt to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society – this period.
“I’ve been quiet for the past few days, not because I don’t feel disgusted and indignant at Balenciaga’s recent campaigns, but because I wanted the opportunity to speak with their team so I could understand what was going on. How could this happen,” she said. more.
Kardashian says she’s currently “reassessing my relationship with the brand, based on their willingness to accept responsibility for something that should never have happened in the first place – and the action that I expect them to take to protect children.”
“I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of campaigns and apologies. When I talk to them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the problem and will take the necessary measures so that this never happens again,” she added.
Balenciaga issued a public apology for their campaign last week.
“We sincerely apologize for any offense our holiday campaign may have caused,” the Spanish brand’s statement read. “Our plush bear bags should not have been introduced with children in this campaign. We immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.”
