Kim Kardashian revealed her secret on how she managed to wear Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress from 1962 to the Met Gala in New York on Monday night.

The TV personality, 41, wore extremely long to fit the show stopper crystal dress, lent to her from Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum.

Speaking on the red carpet, Kim said getting ready to wear the dress included dieting to lose 16lbs in three weeks and how when she tried it on for the first time in the museum sent ‘armed security’ and gloves’.

The dress was worn by Monroe in the famous 1962 US President John F Kennedy birthday concert.

It made history as the most expensive dress sold at the audition in 2016 with a sale of $4.8 million.

The dress is studded with more than 6,000 crystals, hand-sewn by designer Jean Louis.

Kim revealed she lost 16 pounds to put on the dress and spent 14 hours dyeing her hair platinum blonde to match Marilyn.

“I had the idea to try it and then they came with armed guards and gloves,” she said Vogue on the red carpet of the event.

“I’ve always thought she was super curvy. I imagine I could be smaller in some places, she’s bigger and bigger in places where she’s smaller. So when it just doesn’t fit me, I do. wanted to cry because it couldn’t be changed at all.

“I tried it and it didn’t work for me. I said, ‘Give me three weeks.” I had to lose 16 pounds. “

To achieve this, Kim says, she will wear a sauna twice a day, run on a treadmill, and cut out sugar and all carbs for three weeks completely.

The reality TV star said she lives on ‘the cleanest vegetables and protein’ as she is determined to eat in moderation but finds it really ‘challenging’.

Due to the dress’s history, Kim only wore it for a few minutes on the red carpet before changing into a replica as she walked up the museum’s stairs.

After leaving the hotel in a dress surrounded by security, she entered a small fitting room with a conservationist from the Ripley museum in hand with white gloves.

The reality TV star acknowledged the dress’s history and said she couldn’t risk eating, wearing it or putting on body makeup as usual.

Kim said she had to practice walking up the stairs and everything had to be ‘perfectly timed’ to make sure the dress was in perfect condition.

Sharing an image of the dress on Instagram, Kim wrote: “I am honored to wear the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing Happy Birthday to President John F Kennedy.

“It’s a gorgeous leather tight dress adorned with over 6,000 hand-embroidered crystals by fashion designer Jean Louis.

“Thank you, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for giving me the opportunity to present this historic piece of fashion for the first time since the late Marilyn Monroe wore it.

“I’m forever grateful for this moment.”
