Nicole Scherzinger unhappy when Melody Thornton takes center stage

Like many of the Pussycat Dolls girls, Kimberly Wyatt felt overshadowed by one of her bandmates.

The main reason for the bad blood was the overemphasis on lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.

The Pussycat Dolls became a worldwide phenomenon with their first single, “Don’t Cha,” but Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Carmit Bachar and Melody Thornton weren’t particularly singled out.

The Telegraph’s Adam White described the Pussycat Dolls as “pop’s most embittered group”, in which the other members played the role of “glorified backup dancers”.

He also said that their 2006 performance at the American Music Awards, where the girls looked noticeably angry and attempted to compete vocally with one another, “seemed to prove that all was not well within the group’s dynamic.”

Nicole herself claimed she would record all of her songs and play them to the rest of the band, who didn’t even perform on the backing vocals.

In 2009, Dancing on Ice star Kimberly admitted she felt overshadowed by Nicole when they were in the band together.

She also accused music bosses of favoritism after the group’s last two singles featured both Scherzinger’s name and that of the band.

said Kimberly Digital Spy : “It’s true, there’s always been a lot of focus on Nicole, which has been difficult to manage at times. This group was started with a foundation, they knew exactly what they wanted and they had Nicole at the center. Every video and stage performance we did, Nicole was our leader.

“I wasn’t in videos like I wanted and wasn’t seen the way I hoped I would be, which was the same for all the other girls. I don’t really make any of the decisions, I’m in the group and I can voice my opinion to an extent, but at the end of the day it’s a business and there are a lot of chefs in the kitchen running the Pussycat Dolls.”

In 2012, Kimberly told The Mirror that she had not spoken to Nicole and would not see her in her new role as a judge on The X Factor.

She called Nicole “someone I work with, not a friend,” though she added that they became “close” while touring together.

The following year, the former bandmates still didn’t speak, but Kimberly claimed she was trying to build bridges.

“I haven’t spoken or seen Nicole in quite a while … and it’s not because she hasn’t tried,” Kimberly admitted.

“I’ve made enough first moves now, I feel the ball is in their court.”

The 39-year-old emphasized that she was happy for Nicole and wished her every success in her career.

“But I just hope that Nicole is actually happy as a person,” she added. “We weren’t always easy to deal with – it wasn’t an easy situation being in the Pussycat Dolls era.

“But I love Nicole very much and if she offered (an olive branch) I would accept it with open arms.

“I have a lot of understanding but at the same time I wish we could get over it and just move on. I mean, gosh, let’s grow up and enjoy our lives.”

There was bad blood

But in 2018, when bandmate Ashley’s father died, Kimberly said she would “do anything and everything” to get the group back together.

Kimberley called Nicole every day and even left messages on voicemail when she didn’t answer.

Speak with The sun In 2018, Kimberly said, “Pussycat Dolls is a big focus of mine and I’d love to share a stage with my beautiful, strong and talented friends again.

“It’s a bit confusing. There was a lot of talk. Many things are in the works. We’re just waiting for that catalyst to send us back into the stratosphere.

“I am working on it. Nicole is distant at times but I call her every day, even if she doesn’t answer I leave a voicemail because I’ll get back to you because I’m committed to bringing us women together, especially for Ashley who’s been through so much right now .”

When the band reunited in 2019, Kimberly and Nicole put their differences aside for some standout performances and a brand new single, React, but sadly their plans were dashed by the pandemic.
