“Kirby and the Forgotten Land” took third place in the NPD results in March

The NPD results, which cover US game sales along with lots of other data, are now emerging for March. Nintendo released or distributed two notable titles last month, and their results have been mixed.
Although full public data isn’t due until April 26, Axios author Stephen Totilo shared the non-mobile gaming chart (covering Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and of course Switch) based on dollar sales. It’s worth nothing that Nintendo doesn’t share its eShop data, so these download sales don’t help.
Even allowing for the downside that download sales don’t count towards this table, that’s an impressive result for Kirby and the forgotten land in the third. It had strong word of mouth at launch along with positive reviews and this clearly resulted in strong sales in an important market. Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also still do well in the top 10.
Also of note is that Kirby also ranks 7th in the yearly overview.
Returning to the March results, Triangle Strategy makes its debut in 16th place (based purely on boxed copy sales). While it doesn’t exactly brighten the charts, it’s a relatively niche genre, while racking up around 800,000 sales worldwide in its first two weeks.
So there you have it, some solid results for Switch titles. As always, let us know what you think in the comments!
