Released back in May 2021, Knockout City is an action game where players could beat each other up in an epic, high-octane, fast-paced dodgeball game. There were tons of levels and different types of balls and weapons to try, making this one of the more unique multiplayer games we’ve seen in years.
Just today, developer Velan Studios announced that Season 9 will be the final season of Knockout City, and that The service would end on June 6th. However, the developers will release a private server version of the game on PC where players can continue to enjoy the game with friends via custom games. So while the hosted servers are shutting down, feel free to continue playing it in your own circles.
Additionally, there is still plenty of content and updates to look forward to before the service ends. Season 9 begins on February 28th and features back-to-back events and lots of new creative cosmetics to unlock. With the start of the new season, microtransactions will also be removed from the storefront, meaning players will no longer be able to spend real money on the game.
Velan Studios explained that while it was a tough decision to end the service, it was also an opportunity for them to apply everything they learned from the game to their next project. Whether this is an expansion of the Knockout City universe is unclear, but the studio certainly has its eyes on the future.
Knockout City is now available for PC and consoles.n
