Konami is removing Crimesight from Steam – making it unplayable

Crimesight, a social factor deduction game released last year, got a surprising update last night on his Steam page. Despite being out less than ten months, Konami is ending support for it – rendering the game unplayable.

“Thanks for playing CRIMESIGHT,” the news post reads. “This service has continued to operate since its inception in April 2022 with the support of many users, but due to various circumstances we have decided to end the service on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 12:00 AM PDT.”

Support for an online game will eventually end, but the fact that the service will be discontinued so quickly has taken many fans by surprise. This is also the end of more than just the online modes. At the end of the post, Konami writes, “Also, the game itself will be unplayable.” As a result, recent Steam reviews have a rating of “Mostly Negative” as gamers warn future buyers against purchasing a product that will soon be unplayable will.

Crimesight is a multiplayer social deduction game set in a futuristic London. Moriarty’s team is trying to commit murder and Sherlock’s team is trying to stop it. While it was generally well received by those who played it, it didn’t gain much traction. With just a handful of reviews on Metacritic and extremely low stats on SteamDBFor a site that tracks the number of concurrent players, it’s safe to say that one of Konami’s “various circumstances” for the cancellation is the size of its player base.

If you want to try it, you have until February to buy it and until May before it stops working. If you want to try playing another social deduction game, I heard Among Us is good.
