Kyle Hayes sits out Limerick’s Munster SHC clash with Waterford

Limerick’s Kyle Hayes will sit out Munster SHC’s second round match against Waterford as a precautionary measure after suffering a minor hamstring strain in last weekend’s win against Waterford.

ayes, who was switched to full forward for the game, has been left out of the 26-man squad with his spot going to Na Piarsaigh’s Conor Boylan instead.

Otherwise the team is the same with Adam English, a member of the U-20 team that beat Cork midweek and takes Hayes’ place in the squad.

Hayes was the subject of some speculation ahead of the Cork win that he was a risk of injury but showed no ill effects to score another spectacular goal.

Limerick had named David Reidy to start on the last day but he was previously replaced by Mike Casey and Casey is now named to start after a good rebound in his first league game since All-Ireland’s 2019 semi-final loss to Kilkenny.

Meanwhile, there are renewed hopes that a solution to the impasse on the venue for the Munster Football semi-final between Cork and Kerry can be found in the coming days.

Kerry is believed to be ready to play the game at Páirc Uí Rinn, despite a historic agreement between the counties that senior championship games between them can only be played at Páirc Uí Chaoimh or Killarney.

Munster fixed the game for Killarney on May 7 due to Páirc Uí Chaoimh being unavailable and Páirc Uí Rinn being deemed insufficient for the game.

However, Munster may still feel the game needs to stay in Killarney or go somewhere neutral to accommodate the crowds they’re expecting.
