Kyle Walker-Peters urges Southampton to beat Newcastle after them

Kyle Walker-Peters urged Southampton not to wallow in midweek defeat to Newcastle ahead of Sunday’s visit to Watford.

outhampton dominated the ball but failed to take advantage as they lost only their second home game of the season after a 2-1 loss that left the Warblers 10 points ahead of the relegation zone.

Walker-Peters told the club’s website: “Really disappointing to end the game we had at home.

“I think we haven’t lost since September, but that’s the Premier League.

“Both targets are a bit soft, but we can react on Sunday and hopefully we can get it right.”

Watford ranked 19th in the rankings at the weekend and won only 1 of the last 16 matches.

Walker-Peters admitted his side could tighten at the back and in the final third and urged his side to put on a dominant performance against the struggling Hornets.

Walker-Peters added: “I think we had a chance to win (against Newcastle), but we weren’t clinical enough and defensively we needed to be a little more certain.

“I don’t think we need to go too low. Obviously disappointing right now, but tomorrow a clean leaderboard and we’re on again on Sunday, because the matches are coming fast and we want to climb as high as possible in the table.

“That’s the beauty of football, the games are fast and on Sunday we can all talk about how well we played and won, so that’s what we do. we will focus on. This match is now done, we’ll look at it tomorrow and put it on Sunday.” Kyle Walker-Peters urges Southampton to beat Newcastle after them
