Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to end the fevered speculation about his future by signing a new deal at Paris St Germain.

he 23-year-old French international, whose future has been the subject of intense debate in recent weeks, is said to have agreed in principle to extend his five-year tenure at the Parc des Princes.

It will come as a blow to Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid, who were eagerly courting the striker when his existing contract expired.

Mbappe had reportedly agreed a financial package to join Carlo Ancelotti some time ago, but one of world football’s most highly rated talents seems to have been convinced his immediate future lies with the club, for which he has been 25 so far this season league goals as they romped to the Ligue 1 title.

The then 18-year-old joined PSG from Monaco in 2017, initially on a year-long loan that became a permanent transfer of £130.5million.

It has been suggested his retention could be announced as early as Saturday night and it would be a relief for the club’s supporters after weeks of uncertainty.

When asked about Mbappe’s situation on Friday, manager Mauricio Pochettino said: “I hope Kylian is here for many more years but I can’t lie either.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen.

“There are a lot of rumors going around, but the player is the one who has to talk about it.”
