There are new costumed Pokémon, and the mons that appear most often continue the ice theme.

Here’s everything that’s happening in the week of December 26, 2022 to January 1, 2023 at Pokemon Go.

Cubchoo is in the spotlight

Spotlight Hour takes place on Tuesday 27 December 2022 from 6 p.m local time.

The adorable polar bear cub with the permanently hanging snot bubble is the final highlight Pokémon of 2022.

Win the Holiday Cup in Pokémon Go with the best teams
Ice-type Pokémon are plentiful in Pokémon Go this week

As part of the event, every Pokemon you send to the professor during this hour offers double candy.

This is also a great chance to catch enough Cubchoo to evolve into Beartic, a pretty fearsome Ice Mon.

Kyurem takes over during raid hour

The raid hour takes place on Wednesday 28 December 2022 from 6 p.m local time.

The best part about Kyurem returning to Raids this week is that the legendary Ice-type comes with a new move, Glaciate.

This makes it particularly strong in PvP battles. The Ultra League and Master League will be available this week, making it a good prep Pokemon.

During Raid Hour, Kyurem will be available in every Gym, giving you a good chance of getting your own.

Go Battle League is changing again

The Pokémon Go Battle League keeps changing Thursday 29 December 2022 from 8 p.m UK time.

The Ultra League is being replaced by the Master League this week, giving teams unlimited potential.

The Holiday Cup will also return, but the Great League will be replaced by the Ultra League.

This means that Pokemon up to 2.5k CP belonging to the Normal, Grass, Electric, Ice, Flying or Ghost types can be used.

You’ll also get triple Stardust for wins during the duration of both competitions, making it extra rewarding to participate in PvP.

Pokémon Go celebrates the new year with a new event

The New Year’s Eve event takes place on Saturday 31 December 2022 from 8 p.m local time.

Until January 4, 2023 Costumed Pokémon appear more frequently as part of a New Year’s event.

They will wear party hats, top hats and bow ties to join in the celebrations.

This is a good opportunity to snag a bunch of event Pokémon that won’t appear again for a while.
