Morning football news
Newcastle are reported to have signed a £35m deal for Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Bruno Guimaraes from CV to Newcastle, deal done and here we go! Paperworks is now signed at Belo Horizonte with the club director and his agents.
“#NUFC Medical completed in two sessions, yesterday and this morning. Contract until 2026. Fees: € 40 million plus € 2 million in surcharges. ”
However, Brighton have turned down a second offer for Dan Burn from Newcastle for around £10m with add-ons.
Albion turned down an opening offer from the Magpies for the £8million regional centre-back on Wednesday.
But with Burn turning 30 in May and only 18 months left on his contract, Brighton will be willing to let him go on the right terms.
That is understood to be in the range of £12-15m, and for now, the warblers have to answer whether they want to pay before the transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Everton are said to be hoping to bring in Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek to defuse their midfield injury crisis.
But Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is not keen on the idea.
Goodison’s incoming director Frank Lampard thinks Loftus-Cheek can save the Toffees from decline.
However, it will be difficult for Everton to convince Tuchel to leave, because the German player is a huge fan of Loftus-Cheek.
Wolves winger Adama Traore has finally completed a loan deal to boyhood club Barcelona.
The Spaniard prayed for their former La Masia graduate as he held transfer talks with Tottenham.
Traore couldn’t resist the allure of returning to the Nou Camp.
And Barcelona have the option to make his contract permanent for £25m in the summer.
