A SCHOOL has been engulfed in mourning following the sudden death of a young teacher.

Colaiste Iosagain’s Emily Seery, 34, will be laid to rest at her hometown of Edenderry in Offaly on Thursday.

The married mother has been a French and German teacher in the school since 2011 and helps with the school’s musical compositions.

A school post says Emily is a language teacher “first and foremost” but says her true passions are “singing, dancing and drama”.

She was praised for helping to produce school musicals such as Grease, Hairspray and Clueless.

A post on Colaiste Iosagain Musicals said: “During her 11 years at our school, Emily Seery brought that passion to school life through her participation in musical productions, Grease, Hairspray and Clueless.

“Emily’s love of directing school musicals was evident in all rehearsals.

“She spent countless hours on these productions, staying up late on winter evenings and going to school on weekends and midterms to make sure that the best show possible was produced.

“Emily’s attention to detail is extraordinary. She analyzed each performance and tried to improve each performance. Her dedication to each piece is evident. .

Her husband’s name is Vinny and her son’s name is Louie while her parents Gerry and Yvonne own the famous transportation company Seery Coach Hire.

“We are aware that we are not the only school affected by Emily’s sudden death.”

While Portarlington GAA also extended their sympathies and said, “May she rest in eternal peace.”

Ballyfore GAA expressed her condolences to the teacher and said her family is in “their thoughts and prayers at this difficult time”.
