Laura Tobin has revealed she ‘loves’ Richard Madeley, who presents Good Morning Britain, because he ‘has no filter’.
Richard, 65, joined the team in November after host Piers Morgan dramatically quit in May last year following a dispute with weather presenter Alex Beresford over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah.
And meteorologist Laura, who has been part of the show for 12 years, narrated OK! magazine She thinks Richard is a great replacement for Piers, 56.
“I love him. He’s just funny. What’s in his head comes out of his mouth, there’s no editing or filtering. I like that about him,” she said.
Laura, 40, added that she’s still in touch with Piers. She said: “I literally texted him yesterday to say, ‘I have a book that’s coming out! I see you’re in LA but when you come back you can have a copy!” I haven’t heard from him, he’s super supportive.”
The presenter’s comments come as Richard blasted Chris Rock on GMB on Monday after the comedian was slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s shaved head.
Richard didn’t hold back, describing Chris as the “most awkward person I’ve interviewed without hesitation”.
“I was asked by GQ Magazine a few years ago. He was the most awkward person I’ve ever interviewed in my entire career, and it goes back to 1972 when I started working for a local newspaper,” he told Susanna Reid.
“It was for the film Madagascar. Had it been live it would have been abandoned.
“He was without question the most awkward, rude, aggressive, and unsympathetic person I’ve ever interviewed on camera. His behavior was terrible for me. He’s the most uncomfortable celebrity I’ve ever had to interview.”
Later in the show, Richard continued to smack Chris for joking: “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2” and called him a “toxic person”.
He added: “When a man makes a rude and rude remark about his wife, you are playing with fire. I’m not saying it’s right.”
Susanna, 51, interjected: “This is assault and not okay. There is no justification for hitting another person.”
It comes after Richard last month claimed he was trying to be what he said was the “new Piers Morgan”. to express : “I’m part of a team, I’m not, I’m NOT repeating the new or next Piers Morgan.
“I am me. I do it my way.”
The presenter, who first stood in for Piers in 2017 before becoming a permanent member of the team last year, added: “I don’t do it to the extent that Piers did when he was on. I do enough for me. “
Richard shares hosting responsibilities with the likes of Ben Shepherd, Adil Ray and Alex.
