Leandro Trossard backs Brighton to shine with De Zerbi

Leandro Trossard says he sees a bright future for Albion under Roberto De Zerbi.

Trossard is with Belgium and has yet to meet his new club boss.

De Zerbi succeeds Graham Potter, who joined Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel was sacked.

Trossard said: “It all happened pretty quickly.

“One day we heard that Tuchel was fired and that Graham was up there to take his place.

“It was a bit of a shock for us but we knew maybe one day he could leave because he’s a brilliant manager.

“It was a bit strange at first but now with the new manager we have to keep going as a club and as players. I look forward to working with the new coach.”

When asked if the Seagulls can still have a good season without Potter, Trossard said, “Yes, of course.

“It doesn’t mean the team isn’t playing as well when the coach leaves.

“It may be different with the new manager, but that’s also up to him to get us going.”

Trossard came on as a second-half substitute as Belgium beat Wales 2-1 in Brussels on Thursday to keep hopes alive of topping the Nations League group.

They now have to beat the Netherlands in their last game.
