Leandro Trossard ended a 42-year wait for a hat-trick from Albion in the top flight.
His treble is the first in the club’s elite since Gordon Smith scored three at Coventry City in 1980.
Smith’s treble also drew 3-3 – after Albion fell 3-0 behind.
The only other top hat-trick by an Albion player was scored by Peter Ward at Wolves in 1979.
Trossard is the first away player to score a prem triple since fellow Belgian Kevin De Bruyne scored four at Wolves last season.
The last away player to earn a match point at Anfield was Andrei Arshavin for Arsenal in a 4-4 draw in 2009.
Peter Ndlovu scored three goals for Coventry City in 1995 as his team won 3-2.
