LearnUpon to let 27 go as tech layoffs continue

Irish e-learning company LearnUpon has told employees it will cut its workforce by 9 per cent.

In a statement to the Irish Independent, the Dublin-based startup said 27 people worldwide will be affected, with seven potentially in Ireland.

Co-founded by Brendan Noud and Des Anderson, LearnUpon employs 132 people in Ireland and nearly 300 people including offices in the US, Australia and Serbia.

The company made an investment of €47 million in 2020 and is currently ranked 31st in the latest Deloitte Fast 50 ranking of Irish companies with the fastest growing revenues.

“We regret to lose many great colleagues who have helped LearnUpon become a global leader in LMS [learning management system] Space,” said Mr. Noud, co-founder and CEO.

“However, we now face a challenging global economic environment and this difficult decision will put the company in a stronger position to execute on its plans for 2023 and beyond. We offer benefit packages with the goal of making the transition as supportive as possible for the affected team members.”

The company added that the restructuring move will bring the company’s total global workforce back to where it was 11 months ago.
