LEEDS United are close to signing RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, a move that would end their interest in reported Albion target Mohamed Camara.
The Seagulls have been linked with a move for the Salzburg native as a possible replacement for Yves Bissouma, who has left the club in favor of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
It had been widely reported that Leeds and Albion would take on Camara but according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano the Yorkshire side are close to finalizing a deal for Adams.
The American midfielder will undergo a medical this week and is set to replace Kalvin Phillips, who has agreed a six-year deal with Premier League champions Manchester City. It is believed Leeds will pay a £19.7million fee to sign him from the German club.
The Argus have previously been told that Camara is someone they are “aware of but nothing more at this point”.
Desperate for a new challenge, Camara was released from international duty by Mali at the end of June to help him find a new club.
Salzburg are keen to negotiate a deal for Camara soon but the news that Leeds won’t be in the running for him will impact the type of fee they are looking for.
With one team down in the running, it will hurt the chances that Salzburg can wage a bidding war over the player to drive up his price.
