Expect high intensity from Leeds – Tuchel

Follow live updates as Chelsea travel to Leeds in the Premier League today. Chelsea saw victory slip through their fingers when Tottenham salvaged a late draw at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but the Blues have a chance to improve on their opening win over Everton at Goodison Park over their old rivals Leeds this afternoon.

Jesse Marsch’s side were contested by Southampton last weekend but they opened their home season by beating Wolves and will look to use the atmosphere at Elland Road to make life difficult for the visitors – who are without N’Golo Kante , after the midfielder suffered a hamstring injury but will have Thomas Tuchel on the touchline despite being charged by the FA for his confrontation with Antonio Conte.

Both clubs have been busy in the transfer market this summer and Chelsea still expect plenty of deals before the window closes. Raheem Sterling is missing for his first Premier League goal for the Blues after moving from Manchester City.

2′ – Leeds 0-0 Chelsea

What a chance within 60 seconds for Raheem Sterling. Brilliant runs out of the channel, dodging a couple of defenders and getting onto his right foot – but then curls his shot just wide of the far post. Meslier didn’t get close to him.

Leeds look to come into play early on with some fierce challenges in midfield. Dan James plays as their No.9, with Rodrigo right behind him.

1′ – Leeds 0-0 Chelsea

Kicking off! We are on the way. Chelsea get us to the start and as we start there is a big noise in the crowd.

Thomas Tuchel will want a reaction from his side after that late frustration against Spurs.

Leeds vs Chelsea latest news

After yesterday’s flood of games, here’s the state of affairs in the Premier League.

Leeds are seventh and Chelsea eighth, with the home side today one place above having scored one more goal this season. The standings don’t mean all that much just yet, of course – but with a win set to see both clubs in second or third place (at least until Man City plays later), there’s certainly a little added spice to the post-match celebration.

A tie would put them in fifth and sixth place, or higher if it’s a very high-scoring tie.

Brendan Rodgers updates Wesley Fofana amid Chelsea transfer speculation

Brendan Rodgers says Wesley Fofana was left out of the squad for Leicester’s defeat by Southampton because Chelsea’s goal was not in the mood to play.

The 21-year-old defenseman was notable for his absence from the squad as the Foxes attempted to seal their first win of the season against the winless Saints.

Fofana watched Saturday’s game with fans at King Power Stadium.

Here’s how to watch Leeds vs Chelsea online and on TV today

On Sunday, Leeds United and Chelsea meet in the Premier League as two sides who have started a busy summer meet at Elland Road.

The Blues’ takeover late last year and subsequent spending spree to rebuild Thomas Tuchel’s squad saw Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling join the squad, while Leeds looked to replace two key departures.

Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips have been traded to Barcelona and Man City respectively and Brendan Aaronson, Marc Roca and Rasmus Kristensen have been signed to fill the gap.

Here’s everything you need to know before playing:

Leeds vs Chelsea: what happened last time?

It’s safe to say that the home side will aim for a much better encounter today than they did last season.

It was nearing the end of the season — May 11, so technically just five league games ago — and it was a minor beating for Jesse Marsch’s men.

Dan James was sent off after just 24 minutes and Chelsea were already ahead through Mason Mount; Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku contributed to the scoreboard with a 3-0 win.

A 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge in December, when Leeds were still under Marcelo Bielsa’s leadership, gave the Blues a double in that game 21/22. Jorginho scored the winning goal in that game from the penalty spot deep into injury time.

‘We have a chance’: Jesse Marsch confident Leeds can hurt Chelsea

Leeds head coach Jesse Marsch claims his side could “create some havoc” in Sunday’s Premier League home game against Chelsea.

One of English football’s fiercest rivalries is set to reignite at Elland Road and Marsch believes his revamped squad has the ability to stage an ambush.

The American said: “I think we have a side that can wreak havoc against such an opponent at the moment.

“I think we always enjoy playing at Elland Road at home. I think you can see in the early stages that the team is coming together well.”
