Leinster GAA seeks grade standards by hiring 30 new GPOs

Leinster GAA is hiring 30 new full-time coaches with the aim of raising standards across the province.

His new game developer has just started intro training and will take up positions in the coming weeks.

Each game promotion officer (GPO) will be tied to a specific club or clubs will sponsor a portion of their salary, with about 90 clubs set to benefit.

This echoes existing plans implemented in Dublin – where clubs pay 50 per cent of GPO salaries – and in the East Leinster Project, including Kildare, Louth, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow.

The Advanced Scheme mainly expands to Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Carlow, Laois and Kilkenny as well as filling a number of East Leinster vacancies.

Clubs will pay more than 50pc, which is counterbalanced by the Leinster GAA with PRSI costs and expenses.

The Provincial Council has made this commitment through October. That is when the GAA’s new 12 million euro national funding model for game development and coaching kicks in.

At the time, Leinster president Pat Teehan explained, “We’re going to sit down and see where our spending is in each county, what the county funding allocation is and where this fits into it. We will also continue to send some money from Leinster. ”

Leinster used more 90 game development staff. Their impact on participation in elementary schools and at the club level, and in promoting volunteerism, was lauded by Teehan and Offaly’s colleague Alan Mulhall at the Abbotstown launch today. yesterday, Alan Mulhall (inet), game development director of North Leinster.

“We’ve all seen clubs throwing good money after bad about team managers getting into rotation or whatever,” Teehan commented. “Clubs are now seeing the importance of putting money into coaching to develop themselves. Like, if you’re starting to coach a young four or five year old who’s going to be with the club for the next 25, 30 years, it’s value for money. “ Leinster GAA seeks grade standards by hiring 30 new GPOs
