LEO Varadkar has gone viral after he snapped a photo of a group of giggling youths on a new social media app.
The teenagers handed him their phone and made him think he was taking a picture of them.
But there is a twist – the camera in this app switched to selfie mode and took a picture of him too.
Post on TikTok, @Michael Lambe shared a video of his encounter with the Fine Gael leader.
The video has since gone viral, garnering over 314,000 views and over 62,000 likes.
In the clip, Michael and his friends stand together and pose while the phone is passed to Varadkar.
Michael says: “So it takes a selfie and a picture.”
Leo, holding the device, is heard saying, “It’s an app, isn’t it? Yes, BeReal.”
Leo smiles for the photo while the group giggles and thanks him for taking their BeReal.
The Tánaiste said: “It got me too.”

The official BeReal TikTok account commented “epic,” to which Michael replied, “Best photo ever posted on your app.”
One user said: “Leo got the job done.”
People couldn’t believe the odds, with another commenting, “None of our BeReals will ever match.”
The social media app that uses both front and rear cameras has taken the internet by storm.
Once a day, at a random time, users will receive a notification that says “Time to BeReal”.
When a user receives the notification, they have two minutes to photograph exactly what they are doing.
Every user of the app then has the chance once a day to capture an authentic representation of what he is currently doing.
It becomes a mission for users to post their BeReal within the allotted two minutes, otherwise they will be considered late.
Users cannot see other images until they take and upload their own.
Friends and followers can respond with picture replies and comments on each other’s BeReal.
