Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has given the public a glimpse into his eating habits and revealed the contents of his fridge.
r Varadkar shared the picture on Instagram today with his 199,000 followers. The picture shows several lunch boxes filled with meals for the coming days.
The lunch boxes appear to contain salad with packets of ham on a shelf along with cartons of cheese and yoghurt.
The leader of Fine Gael revealed that he is preparing his lunch ahead of the busy week ahead.
“Monday morning. Lunch is ready for next week. Also the Kylemore cheese I picked up at our conference on Saturday,” he said.
Mr Varadkar previously spoke about his lifestyle habits, revealing he once weighed over 17.9 stone and had a 40-inch waist before taking up triathlon.
He made the candid admissions of fitness expert Karl Henry on the Real Health podcast in 2019.
“I used to be very overweight, I used to be 250 pounds with a 40-inch waist and have managed to improve that over the years,” said Mr Varadkar.
“[I train] four times a week which isn’t much overall but also it’s very flexible too because if I’m in a hotel room in Brussels, you know, the hotel probably has a gym.
“When I’m in London you’re never more than a mile from a park. Once you’ve made it a part of your routine, it’s pretty easy.
“And when I’m not doing it, then I actually get stressed because you know … I’m like a dog that hasn’t been walked in days or something,” he said.
He claimed he didn’t consider himself an “early riser” and would “get up at a normal time for anyone living in ‘commuter country,’ which I do, so maybe 6:30 or 6:45.”
Varadkar told Karl he would be in the gym or running by 7am, be ready by 8am and be ready for his first appointment by “nine”.
