She continued: “So of course, we went to the Governor’s Ball and we did a little bit of that and Gary was there and Alfie’s half-brothers were there too and that is lovely.”

Manville revealed that she didn’t confide in her family at first about breaking up with Oldman and that it was a “very lonely time”.

“But it was a very lonely time. (In) the days before cell phones, it was very difficult to talk to him or you know what I was imagining for myself.”

She added that she and Oldman fell in love and had “the best time” before “the rug was tugged at my feet”.

“I thought we would be together forever, we would have a big family, but maybe if that happened, maybe I wouldn’t have the career I have now,” she said.

Manville made his professional debut in 1972 in the musical West End, and has since taken on numerous roles on both the big screen and the small screen.
