After months of travel chaos at airports with abandoned luggage, ever-growing queues and incompetent handling of the crisis, more needs to be done to keep the country moving, writes the voice of the mirror

The danger that current travel nightmares could turn into a summer of chaos will terrify holidaymakers.

It’s unforgivable that airlines and airports are going post-Covid, not recruiting and training enough staff to cope with soaring passenger numbers, and the government’s inability to bang heads is compounding the problem.

Brexit is another factor, but the long queues and delays can be blamed on corporate incompetence, with the looming strikes on railways and British Airways potentially adding to the misery.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps should start doing his day-to-day work of keeping Britain moving and putting pressure on companies that are failing us, rather than blasting forever workers who vow to protect their living standards.

His party is over

TWO more Tory MPs publicly urging Boris Johnson to step down and new evidence of yet another unlawful PM’s birthday party sends him deeper into the quagmire.

The cynical repeating of old pronouncements about imperial measures and grammar schools betrays the desperation of a Downing Street running out of ideas to save an electoral albatross around the neck of the Conservative Party and the country.

Johnson’s inability to govern is demonstrated by the incompetence, chaos, wrong decisions and lies of a Tory PM who, too late, is doing too little to calm a livelihood crisis he has fueled with tax and price increases.

Tory MPs would be doing themselves and us a favor if they dumped jaundiced Johnson.

Not so isolated

The first deaf candidate plus a microbiologist, paramedic, hotel waitress, nanny and the daughter of a former England footballer…

Love Island is certainly working hard to present itself as more than a battle of abs and botox. May the best couple win in a compelling show that can’t be ignored unless you’re stranded on a desert island yourself.
