Liam Gallagher has expressed regret after sending Atletico Madrid footballer Stefan Savic a death threat on Twitter.
avic’s team met Manchester City in a Champions League game on Wednesday.
The game was notable as it included several heated moments and Savic headbutted City player Raheem Sterling towards the end.
Ultimately, it ended in a 0-0 draw that propelled City through to the next round while Atletico Madrid were eliminated.
Gallagher, a fervent Manchester City supporter, addressed a public message to Savic just after midnight on Thursday.
“Stefan Savic that’s a threat if I bump into you you look stupid c*** your dead MCFC,” read a now-deleted message posted to his Twitter page.
On Friday, the former Oasis frontman expressed regret over his words.
“I’m really upset and upset with myself,” his tweet began. “I feel like I let all my fans down with my outlandish behavior. I am a role model for GROWN UPS. I hope you can forgive me.”
In response, fans have commented on social media with advice for his future interactions, one of which suggested that he should “never act when he’s upset or angry”.

The musician seemed to appreciate the comment, as he replied: “Ok [thanks] I’ll really take that advice to heart.”
