Liam Payne says Bear faked Covid to ‘leave school’ in Febraury

Liam Payne has said that welcoming son Bear with ex Cheryl “has ruined their relationship – but for all the right reasons”.

The Girls Aloud star, 38, gave birth to a son in 2017 when she and Liam, 28, were still together.

Liam was 23 years old at the time and details how he struggled to be a father.

Straight talk with US Youtuber Logan Paul’s impulsive podcast, the former One Direction singer says: “I love talking to other new dads. You don’t know what’s coming.”

Emotional about the breakup of his two-year relationship with Cheryl, he said: “Honestly, it ruined the relationship at the time – but for all the right reasons.

“I was so excited when he was born that I was really worried if I would love him enough.”

Complimenting her ex, Liam called Cheryl “the best mom in the world” and said: “I couldn’t ask for someone better.”

But he revealed it was scary when Bear was first born because Cheryl “had some pretty heavy bleeding” after giving birth.

This meant she had to rest for most of Bear’s first day in the world – leaving a young Liam to care for his baby son.

“It was me and a baby in the room and I had to take it. It was fun,” he said.

Just a year after the birth of Bear, Liam and Cheryl announced their separation.

At the time, they released a joint statement: “We are saddened to announce that we are going our separate ways.

“We still have a lot of love for each other as a family. Bear is our world, and we ask that you respect his privacy as we work together to find a way through this issue.”

Their son Bear is now 5 years old and attending school, but his parents have never revealed their face in public because they prefer to keep their life private.

Discussing his relationship with his son, Liam said: “I take him to school once or twice a week and that’s the best thing.

“Our relationship [him and Cheryl] Yes now because friends just grow more.

“We broke up for a reason and now she gives me full control over my life and doing what I do and I know him. [Bear’s] care about.

“He’s all she cares about and I couldn’t ask for more.”

Talking about the legacy he wants to leave his son when he grows up, Liam said his life right now revolves around Bear.

“My life is now his. My money is his. I have a number of companies that he could run if he one day want or sell – but he only has five at the moment so we have a long way to go.”

But one of his biggest fears when Bear was growing up was if he wanted to follow his famous parents into the entertainment industry.

Liam said: “The scariest thing for me was one day he woke up and said ‘I want to be famous’.

“I have protected his face since he was little. I chose to be famous, also a singing career when I was 14… I know you can’t turn the lid back on. “
