Lidl recalls popular item over concerns some packages contain dangerous salmonella bacteria

Supermarket chain Lidl joins rivals like Tesco and Waitrose in issuing recalls for items contaminated with salmonella, which can make its victims extremely ill.

Lidl has made two salmonella recalls this year

Supermarket Lidl is recalling one of its popular products because some packages contain salmonella .

The recall is for a 200g pack of Lidl Alesto California salted roasted pistachios.

A note from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) says: “Symptoms caused by salmonella bacteria typically include fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps.”

Packages of affected pistachios are best priced before October 4, 2022.

Anyone who has purchased one of the packages can return it to the Lidl store for a full refund.

Customers do not need a receipt to receive a refund.

Lidl will put up signs in the stores to explain the problem.

A Lidl spokesperson said: “Lidl GB looks forward to apologizing for any inconvenience caused.”

This year, Lidl also recalled a batch of its Deluxe 240g stuffed dates – also because of salmonella bacteria in some packages.

2022 has seen several other supermarkets recall their products due to salmonella contamination.

Last month Tesco and Waitrose remember two more popular products the fears they may contain harmful bacteria.

Big Four grocer, Tesco is getting a definite use of the day for its Hog-style Roast Pork with Apple Sauce.

Possible presence of salmonella bacteria was found in packages with expiry dates of: January 6, 9, 15 and 17, 2022, February 6, 2022, March 8 and 9, 2022 .

While some of these days may have passed, it’s a good idea to check your freezer in case you’ve put it away.

The Tesco Hog Roast Style Pork with Apple Sauce comes packaged in 425g and costs £4.

Meanwhile, rival supermarket Waitrose has recalled its private label Green Pesto with Basil with an expiration date of 27 February 2022.

Also last month, more than 30 pork products were scratched remember due to salmonella infection.

The affected items were made by Fresher Foods Ltd, whose brands have been withdrawn include Openshaws, Pub Original, AwlyPosh and Snaffling Pig.

Fresher Foods products are sold in Morrisons, Waitrose, Ocado and Amazon, as well as other stores.

At the beginning of the year supermarket consists of Tesco , Aldi , Morrisons and Sainsbury’s Recalling certain pastry and dough products after salmonella has been detected .

A warning has been issued for pre-rolled pastry and dough products manufactured by Bake Away.
