Life as an intimacy director: “If I’m watching a movie or a TV show, I can tell if an actor is uncomfortable doing a sex scene.”

I became an actor in the 1980’s and have worked with various theater companies for over 15 years. Over time I became more interested in physical storytelling, so I went to the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London and did a Masters in Motion for Actors.

As part of this work, we learned all the elements of physical storytelling and non-verbal communication of acting. I then became a movement director and movement teacher at Lir Academy, TCD, and after training at Intimacy for Stage and Screen, I began working specifically on intimate content in theater and film.
